We will begin our day at 9:00am at the JICUF office for our usual discussion. At 10:15am we will meet up with the 78 participants in the Japan-America Student Conference (JASC). JASC and the JICUF are organizing an event that will begin at 1:00pm in the Interchurch Center. The event is a panel discussion focused on reconciliation between the US and Japan after WWII.
Global Link participants and JICUF staff will be heading out of town for a three day retreat from Friday, August 1 - Sunday August 3! The retreat will be held at Cross Roads Camp and Retreat Center in the beautiful woods of Port Murray, NJ. We will be organizing a series of outdoor activities, including river tubing, swimming and a rope course.
We will meet at the JICUF office at 9:00am for our weekly discussion. Then, from 10:15 - 2:00pm there will be a series of career development activities in our office. At 2:00pm, we will all depart for Coney Island, where we will enjoy the beach and amusement park before attending a Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game.
The Japan ICU Foundation's staff has organized a series of activities for Global Link participants on Fridays. Every Friday, Global Link participants will meet at the Japan ICU Foundation's offices at 9:00am. We will begin with one hour of discussion, during which participants will reflect on their week of volunteering with their host organization. Each Friday will then feature a different set of cultural, team-building and leadership development activities.
On Friday, July 11 we will meet at the JICUF office at 9:00am. We will start by taking a tour of the Morningside Heights neighborhood. This will include stops at Columbia University, St. John the Divine, Grants Tomb and Riverside Church. We will then proceed to a Circle Line cruise around Manhattan. After lunch, we will visit Times Square and the Empire State Building.
